Models and Methodology

CTSD is not only a theory. It also provides a methodological language for diagnosing, evaluating, and designing environments in which human and public self-determination can be strengthened or weakened.

01

CTSD as a systemic method

CTSD treats self-determination as a systemic capacity. Therefore the method begins by seeing the whole: person, relations, institutions, technology, economy, and future horizon are examined together rather than as isolated fragments.

02

Diagnosis before intervention

Before offering solutions, CTSD asks what exactly is weakened: identity, decision source, capacity to act, responsibility, institutional support, trust, or technological transparency. Diagnosis prevents a superficial fix from replacing the real problem.

03

Evaluation by wholeness and responsibility

Actions and policies are evaluated not only by speed or efficiency, but by whether they preserve wholeness, responsibility, and subjecthood. A technically efficient solution can still weaken self-determination if it removes authorship from people and institutions.

04

Design, not ready-made answers

CTSD does not impose universal answers. It helps design conditions: educational, institutional, technological, and civic environments where subjects can understand their situation, choose responsibly, and act with agency.

05

Domain analysis

The eight domains make it possible to locate where self-determination is strengthened or disrupted: in meaning, mental stability, cognition, body, relations, institutions, economy, or technology. This creates a structured field for analysis.

06

CTSD-I as a compass

CTSD-I can function as a compass for diagnostic tools, questionnaires, reports, and institutional design. Its purpose is not to label people, but to reveal conditions, asymmetries, and development directions.

07

Ethical limits

Any application of CTSD must preserve human dignity, privacy, and responsibility. A model that measures self-determination must not become a mechanism that controls, objectifies, or replaces the subject.
